Duncan Jones
Waste Partnership Development Manager, Hertfordshire Waste Partnership
Senior local government officer and member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management with over 15 years experience including refuse collection, waste disposal, kerbside recycling services, bring site networks, civic amenity sites (DSO and client), public conveniences, and clinical, hazardous and bulky waste collections. Previously employed by the London Borough of Hillingdon with prime responsibility for policy / strategy formulation and implementation including the full suite of typical client side roles as well as senior leadership roles in direct service operations successfully working across two tier structures.
Duncan now works for the Hertfordshire Waste Partnership working of behalf of 11 authorities to project manage the implementation of Hertfordshire's Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy. Primary responsibilities include a £2m capital investment programme targeted at improving waste management infrastructure in Hertfordshire. He is also lead officer responsible for the developing the Partnership's long term governance structure as well as being involved in the County's PFI bid for £115 million to support the development of residual waste treatment capacity.
A large part of Duncan's time is taken up with pursuing opportunities for joint working which has included the joint procurement of various waste related equipment and services including recently a new Packaging Consortium launched in February this year which saw all 11 Hertfordshire waste authorities join together to sell glass, cans and mixed plastics collected via a range of different bring and kerbside services currently operating throughout the County.
