Leslie Heasman
Managing Director, MJCA
Leslie Heasman is an environmental chemist who has worked in waste management for more than 25 years. She started work undertaking research at AERE Harwell into the fundamental behaviour of wastes and the outputs of the research fed into key government guidance documents. Since 1986 she has been providing technical advice on environmental issues with MJCA where she now is the Managing Director.
Leslie has particular interest and expertise in the assessment and control of chemical contaminants in the aquatic, atmospheric and soil environments. She has wide experience in waste management, mineral extraction and general environmental management together with particular skills in risk assessment. Leslie uses her strong organisational skills to manage successfully complex environmental projects such as planning applications, environmental impact assessments, environmental audits and environmental management systems. Leslie has a key role in the delivery of the Environmental Planning services at MJCA. A significant proportion of her work involves the preparation and negotiation of environmental assessments and planning applications where her knowledge of environmental science and understanding of the technical and practical demands of industrial development are critical.
Leslie provides advice based on her expertise in chemistry and waste processes on all aspects of the design and management of waste management facilities but specifically on the control of atmospheric, aqueous and solid contaminants. Her background in waste research gives her a fundamental understanding of waste processes, the management and control of those processes and the many environmental factors which control the movement and dispersion of contaminants hence determine the risks presented by such contaminants. Her extensive practical experience of waste management operations enables her to provide advice on contaminant control measures which are cost effective and achievable in practice.
