Peter Mills

Development Director, New Earth Solutions

For the 10 years prior to joining New Earth Solutions, Peter pioneered composting within a major international waste management company, promoting organic recycling as part of an integrated recycling solution for both the municipal and commercial sectors.

During this time Peter instigated and developed strategies resulting in the processing of in excess of half a million tonnes of organic wastes and crucially has delivered successful marketing strategies for the incorporation and utilisation of the resulting end products.

The infrastructure and operational protocols by which this has been achieved were recognised by central Government with the award of Beacon Status to the integrated waste management project of which composting was central. In addition, Peter's comprehensive approach to organic recycling has been recognised by both industry and regulators as one of Best Practice and a model for future operations.

Crucial to New Earth Solutions' strategy is Peter's knowledge and experience in marketing the products of organic recycling. He has achieved considerable success in this area by the development of strategic partnerships with specific end user groups, in particular the organic growing sector, conventional agriculture and several major national retail outlets.

Whilst pursuing his business objectives Peter has become well known within the organic recycling industry, currently sitting as a Director on the Board of the industry's representative body, The Composting Association, as a member of the Governments Waste and Resources Action Programme Organic Stakeholder Group and he continues to contribute to many industry forums.

Prior to specialising in the organic waste sector Peter was extensively involved across the waste industry, notably in a regulatory capacity and subsequently within the landfill sector, specialising in environmental monitoring, landfill gas and leachate control projects.
