Dr Tim Walker
Head of Waste Management, Belfast City Council
Tim Walker is Head of Waste Management with Belfast City Council, a post he has held for over eleven years. Tim is the current chair of the Northern Ireland branch of the Technical Advisors Group (which represents councils' principal technical and environmental officers) and he represents NILGA on several waste-related topics, including the DOE Strategic Waste Board.
Previously, Tim was the local chair for both the CIWM and IEMA. Until 2005, Tim also represented CIWEM on the Waste Management Advisory Board (which oversaw the DOE's implementation of the earlier Waste Strategy for Northern Ireland) and currently he sits on CIWEM's national Waste Policy Group.
Tim has a number of academic and professional qualifications and in 2007 completed a PhD in public sector performance management.
