Julia Barrett
Director of Environment & Regulation, Cambridgeshire County Council
Julia Barrett has been the Director of Environment & Regulation at Cambridgeshire County Council since 2005, where she has responsibility for the Authority's Waste Services. She is also responsible for Trading Standards, Strategic and Minerals and Waste, Planning, Economic Development, Environment Policy & Programmes, and External Funding.
Before that Julia spent 5 years at the Environment Agency in Peterborough: initially as Regional Water Manager, with policy responsibility for Flood Defence, Water Resources, Fisheries, Recreation, Conservation & Navigation, and latterly as the Regional Strategy Manager leading on regional advocacy.
Julia is a Chartered Chemical Engineer who started her career with ICI in the North West. As well as being a Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, she is an affiliate member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management. She is currently the Chairman and spokesman of the Waste Panel of CSS, the County Surveyors' Society.
