Corporate Sustainability Manager, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG)
Phil is the Corporate Sustainability Manager for the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), the privately funded body responsible for preparing and staging the 2012 Games. He is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the sustainability management system for the Games (modelled around BS 8901:2007) and programme managing all sustainability-specific and cross-functional sustainability work streams. His programme responsibilities have also included managing the development and planning for two major Games operational areas: Cleaning & Waste Management, and Catering & Food Services.
Phil joined LOCOG 3 years ago after nearly 10 years spent working in the environmental consultancy sector. A Chartered Environmentalist and an IEMA Registered Environmental Auditor, as a consultant he provided the complete delivery of a range of environmental projects across a wide range of industrial sectors for major private and public sector organisations, at home and overseas.
He is Secretary to the UK Environmental Law Association's Waste Working Party, and is a member of British Standards Institution's subcommittee SDS/1/-/2 Sustainable Events. He has a very keen interest in outdoor pursuits, and tries to do as much kayaking, hill walking and scrambling as possible. He is a qualified paddlesport coach.
