Futuresource/Sauce Communications Hub

After an extremely successful debut last year, CIWM and environmental communications specialist Sauce Consultancy are once again teaming up to run the Communications Hub at Futuresource 2010. Effective communication lies right at the heart of behaviour change, and delivering a more sustainable approach to waste and resource management depends on our sector’s ability to engage with its customers and stakeholders.

The exciting and dynamic free programme for the 2010 Communications Hub tackles some of the really challenging communications issues in this field, with a series of panel debates featuring influential industry experts and media representatives. The format of the debates will encourage lively Q&A sessions, ensuring plenty of audience participation!

The Communications Hub is also designed to help waste professionals feel more confident about approaching and reacting to the media, and building relationships with journalists. Visitors can get advice on media relations from the Sauce Consultancy team and former BBC news reporter Steve Bustin is also on hand each morning to provide tips on how to get the most out of the media, as well as running free media training sessions to help industry professionals prepare for press, TV and radio interviews (to book a free session email: press@ciwm.co.uk).

Panel members (in partnership with the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group) include:

  • Fiona Harvey, FT Environment Correspondent
  • Ben Page, CEO, Ipsos Mori
  • Michael Warhurst, CEO, Friends of the Earth
  • Rhion Jones, Programme Director, Consultation Institute
